The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in favour of a president’s “absolute immunity” for official acts up-ends the Magna Carta and, along with it, the entire Western political tradition. Here are the words I had written and posted to my blog last night (please see my previous posts), prior to the announcement:
Today I see a return to the Middle Ages – to dynasties, to Chieftains, and to the Divine Right of Kings, which Trump so clearly incarnates.
